Do Not Buy Processed Foods
A good practice is if you don't put junk food into the grocery cart, it doesn't make it home to the cupboard or fridge. Processed foods are packed with empty calories, sugar and chemical additives. Did you know that a lot of companies have produced processed foods that appeal and overpower your brain? It's true, making us eat more and more. Many people become addicted and completely lose control over their consumption. Time to ditch processed foods and sugar.
Make Healthier Food Choices
To live a healthier lifestyle change your focus to whole, organic and fresh foods. Select foods that are low in both sugar and highly refined carbohydrates. Choose food that contain minimal amounts of unhealthy fats. Unhealthy fats include both trans fats and saturated fats. Various greens, proteins, lean meats, healthy fats, fish, chicken, vegetables and fruits should be come your diet staples. Why? Your body needs essential vitamins and minerals to maintain and keep all of your body systems working top notch. Feel better and fight disease by eating clean.
Get Up and Get Moving
Exercising every day is very beneficial to your health including lowering risk of disease, weight loss, longer lifespan, healthier bones and muscles, and improves flexibility. There are many exercises out there to choose from such as yoga, kickboxing, swimming, CrossFit and bicycling. Do some research and choose one that excites you. Drink Enough Water
Keeping your body hydrated helps our health in many ways, such as transporting nutrients, maintaining body temperature, digestion, flushing waste and circulation. So, how much water do we really need each day? According to The National Academies of Sciences suggests that women consume a total of approximately 2.7 liters (91 ounces) of water from all beverages and foods each day and that men get approximately 3.7 liters (125 ounces) daily. But these are just general guidelines and are not supported by firm scientific studies.
Get Plenty of Sleep
If your goal is to live a healthy lifestyle, you must include adequate sleep. Getting enough sleep each night can benefit your heart, weight, mind, and more.
Poor sleep is strongly linked to weight gain, mood changes, high blood pressure, weakened immunity, low sex drive, and diabetes. During sleep, your body heals itself and restores its chemical balance. Without adequate sleep, your brain and body systems won’t function normally. If you are not sleeping well, see your doctor.
Find Peace, Joy and Happiness
Life is fast-paced and very busy. It's time to slow down and find more joy. Whatever it is that helps you relax and smile do it and do it often. Buy new clothes. Grab that pair of fitness leggings you are in love with. Purchase a gift for someone, giving is healthy. Take nature walks. Play with your kids. Make lunch dates with friends. Plan mini-getaways. Focus on making more time for things that bring you happiness.
